Soyoung Jung, Ph.D.

 

Academic & Research Position

Soyoung Jung, an assistant professor at Renmin University of China, earned her Ph.D. from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and also was a member of Behavior, Information, Technology, and Society (BITs) lab at the iSchool, at Syracuse University. In 2018-2019 she had been appointed as a visiting researcher at M.I.N.D. Lab at the School of Art & Design College of Architecture & Design, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).

 

Research & Publication

Her innovative research is focused on UI/UX Design, interaction design with the usage of new media and its advertising and persuasive effect. She is the co-author of more than 15 publications: including several peer-reviewed external adjudications of journals, and conference presentation. Her research focused on how emerging media and their different forms of information influence consumers’ mind and behaviors. Originally, she majored in Fine Art/Studio Art; thus, she has intrinsic motivation and interest in visual communication and media’s effect. This has led her to expand her study to cognitive perception processing on traditional and interactive media.

 

Teaching

Her teaching experiences span several courses in Communication, Human-

Computer Interaction, Digital Media Design, and Emerging Media and Communication taught at Syracuse University, SungKyunKwan University, and NJIT in the United States and Korea. 

 

Service

Soyoung Jung has been a reviewer for Computer's in Human Behavior and also serve as reviewer assistant for MIT's Presence: Teleoperators and Virtual Environments. She actively serves in the refugee area in Syracuse, NY, to reach out refugee population and teach computer skills over four years.
